Agony Page Question: Dealing with Loss
Dealing with Loss. This is an email agony question that I received this week and I would like to share my answer with you all:
“I lost my Dad about three years ago and I am still trying to deal with the loss. I have been thinking about contacting a medium, psychic or healer for some time but I am worried that this will make the grief worse. Can this happen?” And what can I do myself to make me feel better like he is still with me?
Hannah, from Basingstoke.
Hi Hannah,
I don’t think there is one correct way to deal with grief, as the feeling of loss and numbness will take time to heal. Being overwhelmed along with so many emotions is actually normal and all part of the process.
Contacting a gifted medium is more likely to help you through the process of grief rather than making it worse. It’s difficult being the one left behind, and no longer having your Dad’s physical presence around, but having a face-to-face sitting or a telephone reading with a medium should bring comfort that he is still OK.
A truly gifted medium should be able to bring forwards evidential and a truly gifted medium should be able to bring forward evidential and specific information which nobody else could know, to re-establish the connection for you, and offer a certain level of proof that he survived physical death. He is most likely to be OK on the other side of life and reunited with friends, pets and loved ones that he once knew. If he was in any physical pain before he passed, he will also now no longer be suffering in any physical way too.
He would be very concerned if you were still feeling sad now, and would more want you to make the most of your life here on Earth. You both will have had happy memories together, which he will indeed want you to cherish that special passage of time spent together. However, he would also prefer you to gradually move forwards from your current level of sadness.
Not all psychics channel proof of survival information. Not all psychics channel proof of survival information. They might be just connecting with your guides or aura instead bringing forward information just about your past present or future. The healer would be just channelling healing energy, so you would need to check that it was actually a medium you were contacting when you decide to get in touch.
You can always communicate with your Dad yourself with prayer or by talking to him as if he is still here and by looking at a photograph. Memories of times spent together then might start flooding into your mind as he telepathically indicates to you he is around, or he may even try contacting you in your sleep-state in dreams to let you know he is OK and loves you so much.

There are several crystals that I have found very useful during this time of recovery, so simply having them with you or around you may bring comfort:
Rose Quartz can bring a sense of inner peace and opens the heart and Smokey Quartz can help lift depression and bring peace of mind.
Amethyst would open your mind to your spiritual connection with him.
Golden Tiger’s eye or Amber would also create a sense of optimism and bringing sunshine as dawn begins to break in your deepest darkest hour.
You can even carry these crystals with you, put them in your bag or pocket or wear them in the form of jewellery. You may even like to try visiting a place that you once went to together, taking these crystals with you and recreate the memory that you shared together. These crystals will help you day to day to feel he is still with you.
